2009 Mira Awards Logo

LacPro a finalist for the 2009 MIRA Innovation of the year Award.

Fort Wayne, IN (April 16, 2009) – Fort Wayne based LacPro Industries, LLC has been named a finalist for Innovation of the Year in the 2009 TechPoint Mira Awards. The Mira Awards highlight the accomplishments of Indiana's most innovative and successful technology-driven organizations. LacPro, a new probiotic-based biotherapeutic company, is developing a new biologic for the prevention and treatment of Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI).


Purdue and IPFW Award

LacPro Wins 2007 Opportunity for Indiana, Business Plan Competition.

In December 2007, took home the top prize in the fourth-annual northeast Indiana Opportunity for Indiana Business Plan Competition on Friday at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. A emerging biotechnology company with a new product helpful to gastrointestinal health won the top prize in the area’s fourth-annual “Opportunity for Indiana” business plan competition. Of the 31 teams that entered the competition, LacPro came away with the top prize of $25,000 and 80 hours of help from Purdue University’s Technical Assistance Program.


Fort Wayne Business Weekly

LacPro Named Overall Winner, Innovator of the Year.

In November 2007, LacPro was named Business Weekly’s Innovation Awards Innovator of the Year at the luncheon held at the Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne. LacPro, based in Fort Wayne, has created a probiotic medical food that the company says can help improve treatment outcomes for patients or long-term care facility residents with Clostridium difficile Infection. The Innovator of the Year award was accepted by the company's president, Melinda Schriver.


Fort Wayne Business Weekly

LacPro Named Health Care Innovation of the Year.

In September 2007, LacPro was named the Health Care category winner of the Business Weekly Innovation Awards. Forty-two companies were nominated for the innovation awards in eight categories. Representatives from the Business Weekly Innovation Awards corporate sponsors selected the nine category winners, who then advanced to a second round of judging from which the Innovator of the Year will be chosen.

Women Entrepenuers

Melinda Schriver, President, Receives Leadership Recognition for Women Entrepreneurs.

In November 2007, Melinda Schriver, President, received a Leadership Recognition award at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center’s Celebration of Women Entrepreneurs meeting. On November 14, 2007, the Innovation Center held its first annual "Celebration of Women Entrepreneurs". Women owned businesses are the fastest growing segment of the northeast Indiana economy and this was a memorable opportunity to applaud some outstanding women who have spurred the region's growth with their creation of new jobs and new companies and who, by their example, light the way for the successful entrepreneurs of the future.
